Randy
Kapralick
Lead trombone player Randy
Kapralick has been a member of the LHJO since 2002.
He earned his BA in Studio Music and Jazz Performance from the
University of Miami School of Music in 1997.
Immediately upon graduating, Randy was hired to play for the legendary Motown groups the Four Tops and the
Temptations.
As an integral member of a nine-piece horn section, he toured
extensively across the country during the following five years, giving
him
a chance to further develop his lead playing and improvisational
skills. Randy now contracts his own horn sections for the Four Tops on occasion.
Throughout his career, Randy has had the opportunity to perform or
record with well-known musicians, such as
Tito Puente, Aretha Franklin, Joe Henderson, Gerry Mulligan, Joe
Lovano, Maria Schneider, Chico O'Farrell,
KC and the Sunshine Band, the Spinners, Mary Wilson (of the Supremes),
Kenny Rogers, Frankie Valli,
Bill Watrous, Robert Goulet, and many others.
After residing in Miami, Montana, New Orleans, and New York, Randy has
enjoyed allowing his roots to grow in
Philadelphia, where he works as a trombonist and composer/arranger for
jazz ensembles, singer/songwriters, and
various rock acts. Playing in the LHJO continues to be one of his
most gratifying endeavors since returning to his
home town.
