Obtaining a Lars Halle big band composition:
If you wish to obtain compositions by Lars for your own big band to
perform, there are a number of possibilities.
A number of selections are already available for purchase through
Kendor Music, Inc., and can also be purchased through
music retailers such as J.W. Pepper and Marina Music Service. The
pieces published by Kendor cater toward mid-level
ensembles, such as good High School jazz ensembles and young College
groups. The pieces listed here are of a more
challenging level.
Grade 1: Very Easy - playable by most Middle School ensembles
Grade 2: Easy - playable by advanced Middle School ensembles
Grade 3: Moderate - High School level
Grade 4: Somewhat challenging - advanced High School and College
ensembles
Grade 5: Challenging - advanced College ensembles and professional bands
Grade 6: Very Challenging - advanced professional bands
All selections are scored for the following instrumentation, unless
otherwise noted:
2 alto saxophones, 2 tenor saxophones, 1 baritone saxophone
5 trumpets
3 tenor trombones, 1 bass trombone
Piano, Bass, Drums
A guitar part may be available upon request.
