Matt Cappy


Matt Cappy is another founding member of the LHJO. After receiving degrees from the University of the Arts,
Matt has been a prolific performer, playing with countless high-profile musicians, such as Jill Scott, the Roots, Mos Def,
Erykah Badu, the O'Jay's, Gerald Veasley, Tony Bennett, and Aretha Franklin.
As a recording artist, Matt has shared the studio with, among others, Earth Wind and Fire, Michael Jackson,
Musiq Soulchild, Fred Hammond, and Marvin Sapp.

Matt is not a stranger to television, as he has appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the Dave Letterman Show,
the Conan O'Brien Show, Regis and Kelly, VH1 Hip Hop Honors Show, and Emeril Live, just
to name a few. Matt has been on the Board of Governors for the Philadelphia chapter of the Recording Academy since 2003,
and is on the trumpet faculty at the Conservatory of Musical Arts in Haddonfield, New Jersey.
